Week 7 brought another wave of injuries, shifting roles, and breakout performances across the NFL. As we head into Week 8, bye weeks are becoming a bigger factor and roster depth is being tested across fantasy leagues. Getting ahead of the next opportunity matters more than ever.

The waiver wire is where leagues can be won, but waiting until Tuesday morning means competing with everyone else for the same players. Beat the Waiver Wire is designed to help you get one step ahead by identifying players worth adding or stashing before Monday Night Football kicks off.

Some of these players can provide immediate help, while others are bets on talent, opportunity, or a role that could continue growing. Not every addition needs to become an instant starter. Sometimes, the best move is securing a player before the rest of your league realizes why he matters.

Quarterback

Michael Penix Jr., QB, Atlanta Falcons

We tried to tell you to add Penix Jr. earlier this season. If he is somehow still available, this is probably your last opportunity. Penix has thrown six touchdowns over the past two weeks and has only one interception through five games.

He completed 25 of 34 passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns against San Francisco, giving him a 9:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio this season. Penix now faces Tampa Bay and Cincinnati over the next two weeks. Both are favorable matchups for a quarterback who is protecting the football and beginning to find his rhythm. He is a legitimate weekly starter in one-quarterback leagues.

Malik Willis, QB, Miami Dolphins

Willis is never going to be the most polished passer, but his rushing ability creates a fantasy floor that we can work with. Over the last two games, Willis has produced 111 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

He also played his best game of the season against the Jets, completing 14 of 21 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns while adding 39 yards and another score as a runner. Miami hosts New England and Detroit over the next two weeks. The Dolphins should be forced to remain aggressive in both games, giving Willis enough passing and rushing opportunities to remain fantasy-relevant.
