Week 5 brought another round of injuries, breakout performances, and changing roles across the NFL. As we head into Week 6, several players are positioned to take advantage of new opportunities and help fantasy managers dealing with injuries and upcoming bye weeks.
The waiver wire is where leagues can be won, but waiting until Tuesday morning means competing with everyone else for the same names. Beat the Waiver Wire is designed to help you get one step ahead by identifying players worth adding or stashing before Monday Night Football kicks off.
Some of these players can provide immediate help, while others are bets on talent, opportunity, or a growing role. Not every addition needs to become an instant starter. Sometimes, the best move is securing a player before the rest of your league realizes why he matters.
Quarterback
Tyler Huntley, QB, Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson’s status remains uncertain, which puts Tyler Huntley back on the fantasy radar. Huntley is never going to replace Jackson’s ceiling, but his rushing ability gives him a path to usable QB2 production.
If Jackson is unable to play against Cleveland, Huntley becomes a viable streamer in deeper leagues and a priority addition in Superflex formats. Managers relying on Jackson should add Huntley before receiving the final injury update.
Case Keenum, QB, Chicago Bears
Caleb Williams has a chance to return in Week 6, so this situation will need to be monitored. If Williams remains sidelined, Case Keenum could start after replacing Tyson Bagent during Chicago’s Week 5 loss.
Atlanta entered Week 5 with one of the league’s worst pass defenses, giving Keenum a favorable matchup if he gets the call. He is only a desperation streamer in one-quarterback leagues, but he carries some short-term value in Superflex formats.
