Week 8 brought another wave of injuries, shifting roles, and breakout performances across the NFL. As we head into Week 8, bye weeks are becoming a bigger factor and roster depth is being tested across fantasy leagues. Getting ahead of the next opportunity matters more than ever.

The waiver wire is where leagues can be won, but waiting until Tuesday morning means competing with everyone else for the same players. Beat the Waiver Wire is designed to help you get one step ahead by identifying players worth adding or stashing before Monday Night Football kicks off.

Some of these players can provide immediate help, while others are bets on talent, opportunity, or a role that could continue growing. Not every addition needs to become an instant starter. Sometimes, the best move is securing a player before the rest of your league realizes why he matters.

Quarterback

Cam Ward, QB, Tennessee Titans

We finally saw the type of fantasy performance we have been waiting for from Ward. Tennessee found itself in an unexpected shootout against Cincinnati, and Ward responded with the first 300-yard passing game of his career.

He finished with 304 passing yards, two touchdowns, and 41 rushing yards on seven attempts. The rushing production is especially important because it gives Ward another way to create fantasy points when the passing offense struggles. Tennessee is on bye in Week 9, so he will not provide immediate help. However, Ward is worth monitoring in one-quarterback leagues and should be rostered in every Superflex format.

Gardner Minshew, QB, Arizona Cardinals

Arizona finally made a change at quarterback, benching Jacoby Brissett for Minshew. The move immediately gave the offense some life, and Minshew helped lead the Cardinals to an improbable comeback victory.

It would be surprising to see Arizona return to Brissett after that result. Minshew does not have a massive fantasy ceiling, but he has shown throughout his career that he can provide usable production when surrounded by capable weapons. If the Cardinals name him the starter, he should be added in all Superflex leagues.
