Buy the Boring: Free Agency Edition
Kevin looks at some under the radar free agents who could quietly gain dynasty value once free agency happens.
Free agency is where everyone chases the splash. Big contracts, big headlines, big dynasty swings. That’s not what we’re doing here. This is about buying the boring. One player per position. Not the sexy names or the ones dominating timelines, but the guys sitting in that gray area, role players, post-hype assets, depth chart pieces who could quietly gain value once free agency reshapes rosters. These aren’t overnight league winners, but they’re the types of players who can help position your contender to be a league winner. Let’s find the leverage before the market reacts.
QUARTERBACK
Quarterback is thinner this year. There aren’t many headliners in free agency, and the true difference-makers aren’t changing teams. But depth charts shift quickly at this position, and it only takes one signing or one missed signing for a path to open. We’ll pick one quarterback who isn’t generating much buzz right now but could see his dynasty value tick up once the dust settles.
Aaron Rodgers
If Aaron Rodgers plays in 2025, it’s probably one of two paths. Either he lands in Pittsburgh or he signs in Minnesota as a short-term bridge ahead of J.J. McCarthy. It’s not pretty at this stage of Rodgers’ career and I’m not projecting a world beater season. But if he lands with the Vikings, the conversation changes quickly for dynasty.
Minnesota’s offense is built to support quarterback production. Kevin O’Connell has consistently created structure, timing throws, and volume. Add in Justin Jefferson and that ecosystem matters more than Rodgers’ declining mobility or age. In Superflex, that’s all we care about. Situation plus volume equals value insulation.
If Rodgers signs there, locking him in as a QB2 is not some wild take. He wouldn’t need to be vintage Rodgers. He would just need to distribute and keep the offense on schedule. In that scenario, he becomes a viable starter in leagues overnight and a strong bridge option for contenders. Rodgers to Jefferson would be enough to stabilize fantasy output even if the ceiling isn’t elite.
This isn’t betting on greatness. It’s betting on the environment. And in Superflex, that’s often enough.

RUNNING BACK
Running back will dominate the headlines once free agency opens. There are legitimate heavy hitters at the top of the class, and those names will swing markets the second they sign. But that’s not where the edge usually is. It’s often the secondary move, the depth signing, or the back who survives the chaos that creates value. We’re looking for the one running back flying under the radar right now who could quietly see his role expand once the dust settles.
