C2C Deep Stash Alert: “Break Glass” Players Who Could Save Your Season
Share

Injuries, surprise depth chart moves, and breakout performances happen every single year, and in Campus2Canton leagues, they can completely swing your season. Too often, managers load up only on “right now” starters and forget about the players who might be one depth chart shift away from making a huge impact. That’s where the “Break Glass in Case of Emergency” stash list comes in.

These aren’t just speculative adds or buys for the far-off future. Many of them could be startable in the early weeks, giving you production right away while still holding the kind of upside that can win you games in October and November. They’re the perfect blend of safety net and lottery ticket, the type of players you’ll be glad you rostered. For the article, we are looking at players who had an ADP of round 25 or later.

And if you want to see the latest fall camp updates that helped shape this list, check them out below!

Brendon Lewis, QB, Memphis (SR)

Path to Startability: Memphis wasted no time naming Lewis the starter after he transferred in from Nevada, and that alone makes him worth a look in Superflex leagues. He’s battle-tested with 35 career starts, and unlike his predecessor Seth Henigan, Lewis brings a true dual-threat skill set. He threw for 2,290 yards and 16 touchdowns last season while also leading Nevada in rushing with 775 yards and eight scores. That rushing floor gives him weekly usability from the jump.

Upside Swing: The Tigers’ offense under OC Tim Cramsey is built to maximize speed and versatility, and Lewis is the type of quarterback who can elevate the entire unit. If the passing volume takes a step forward while he maintains his rushing production, you’re looking at a potential top-15 CFF quarterback. He’s not just an “emergency stash”, he’s the kind of late-round pick who can become an every-week starter if things click in this new system.

Jake Merklinger, QB, Tennessee (R-FR)

Path to Startability: The Vols’ quarterback battle looks like Joey Aguilar’s job to lose, but Merklinger has something Aguilar doesn’t: a year of continuity in Josh Heupel’s system. He’s been developing since stepping on campus, and while he doesn’t have the gaudy stat lines Aguilar brings from App State, he does have the timing, accuracy, and scheme familiarity to make this competition tighter than it seems. Tennessee’s offense will put up numbers no matter who’s under center, which makes Merklinger worth a hold even if he starts the season on the bench.

Upside Swing: If Aguilar stumbles out of the gate, don’t be surprised if the staff turns to Merklinger midseason. He has the pedigree (four-star recruit), the weapons (Mike Matthews, Chris Brazzell II, Braylon Staley), and the system to thrive quickly once given the reins. And since he’s only a freshman, a hit here gives you more than just 2025 production; it could be the start of a multi-year riser in C2C formats.
