🧊 Section 1: Stock Up / Stock Down (Temperature Check)
Tracking player value swings that impact lineups, trades, and long-term outlook.
We’re seven weeks in, and player values are already on the move. Every week brings risers and fallers, but these are the swings that matter most, breakouts you can lean into, and red flags you’ll want to keep an eye on.
Stock Up
WR Malachi Toney, Miami
It’s hard to overstate how electric Malachi Toney has been through the first half of his true freshman season and his breakout against Florida State might be the game that cements him as the next superstar wide receiver in college football.
Toney was the best player on the field in Miami’s 28–22 win, racking up 7 catches for 107 yards and two touchdowns while turning routine slants into highlight-reel plays. His combination of suddenness, burst, and after-the-catch creativity gave FSU’s secondary fits all night, and the stats don’t even tell the whole story, one of his best plays, a 52-yard catch-and-run to the pylon, was wiped out by a penalty.
At just 18 years old, Toney already looks like Miami’s WR1 and one of the most polished route runners in the country. He’s recorded at least four receptions in every game and sits at 375 yards and three scores on the season. Beyond the stats, he’s shown elite football IQ and work ethic, the kind of traits that separate freshmen contributors from future stars.
“He’ll break every record here,” one Miami staffer said back in spring, and it’s starting to feel prophetic. His acceleration off the line and nuanced understanding of leverage make him nearly impossible to cover one-on-one, and his after-catch ability fits perfectly in Mario Cristobal’s aggressive offensive scheme.
🏈 C2C Takeaway:
Malachi Toney is a must-acquire in C2C formats and devy leagues. He’s producing at a high level as a 17-year-old true freshman in a top-five offense, that’s elite company. If you’re building long-term, Toney profiles as a future top-10 C2C asset and a likely first-round NFL prospect in a few years. Get in before the cost explodes.
WR Carnell Tate, Ohio State
It’s not easy to shine next to Jeremiah Smith, but Carnell Tate is doing exactly that — and he’s doing it with NFL-caliber polish. Against Minnesota, Tate put on a clinic, torching the Gophers for 9 receptions on 10 targets for 183 yards and a 44-yard touchdown, showcasing everything that made him one of the most refined wideouts in the country coming out of IMG Academy.
His performance wasn’t just about volume — it was about dominance. Tate stacked explosive plays all night, hauling in catches of 44, 48, and 49 yards while repeatedly burning man coverage and working the sidelines with elite footwork. It marked his second straight game with a highlight toe-tap grab and his most complete outing yet as Ohio State’s emerging 1B to Jeremiah Smith’s 1A.
Through five games, Tate now sits at 24 catches for 435 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 87 yards per game (No. 17 nationally). He’s displaying advanced route precision, strong hands through contact, and the ability to separate downfield — all traits NFL scouts covet.
At this point, Tate isn’t just thriving within Ohio State’s offense; he’s carving out a legitimate first-round devy profile. The growth in his intermediate and deep-route efficiency has been striking, and he’s quickly establishing himself as the next elite Buckeye wide receiver to follow the Harrison–Olave–Wilson lineage.
🏈 C2C Takeaway:
Carnell Tate’s stock is skyrocketing — both in devy and C2C formats. He’s producing WR1 numbers on a team loaded with future NFL talent, and his athletic profile screams “early draft capital.” If you missed out on Jeremiah Smith shares, Tate is the perfect pivot — a top-15 C2C asset with WR1 overall upside in the right system.
