Who is Demond Williams?
Williams was a four-star in the composites who attended Basha High in Arizona. Williams also competed in track and field, qualified for the state meet in the 200 meter and the 4x100 relay as a Junior, and won a championship in the 4x100 as a Senior. Williams was a decorated performer on the football field. Williams was a four-year starter who amassed over 10,000 passing yards with 93 touchdowns and 12 interceptions with a 71.4 completion percentage. As a runner, Williams accumulated over 2,700 yards with 42 touchdowns. Williams's final season was electric. Williams completed 76.8% of his passes for 3,250 yards, 34 touchdowns, and only three interceptions while rushing for 1,136 yards and an additional 20 touchdowns. Williams was named the state’s offensive player of the year and the region’s player of the year. Williams never had a season with more than four interceptions.
Williams initially committed to Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin, only to re-open his commitment and stay home, and then head coach Jedd Fisch got Williams to commit to Arizona. Williams enrolled early in Tucson. While on campus, Fisch would take the vacated job with Washington and courted Williams to come with him. Arizona did not let WIlliams out of his letter of intent, and WIlliams was forced to enter the portal. The situation in Washington is much better than in Arizona for Williams. At Arizona, Williams had Noah Fifita to contend with, but at Washington, Will Rogers only has a year of eligibility left and should have a timeline to start in 2025.
