Who is Jordan Lyle?
Lyle was a four-star in the composites who attended St. Thomas Aquinas in Florida. As a Junior in 2022, Lyle rushed for 1,015 yards on 91 carries with 12 touchdowns. Lyle built on that season and showcased himself as a Senior with 1,376 yards on 130 carries and 21 touchdowns and added 13 receptions for 177 yards and one touchdown. Lyle held 28 offers and initially made his commitment to Ohio State before the summer of 2023 and appeared to be locked in with the Buckeyes, but a late chaotic event led to commitment flips that included Miami losing Kevin Riley at the same position to Alabama, forced Miami to a full court press to try and keep Lyle home and they were able to flip Lyle late in the process as he announced his decision to flip from Ohio State to the University of Miami.
Lyle is one of the most efficient runners in this class and could end up being a sleeper in this class. Lyle has a reasonable frame to be a lead runner and shows excellent vision as a runner who possesses good contact balance and can showcase lateral agility to avoid and evade once he gets through the first level. Lyle is a shifty runner with good speed and isn’t afraid to take on a defender. Lyle will lower his pads and welcome contact. The combination of lateral agility and physicality at such a young age should help as he fills his frame in college. While he doesn’t have the raw stats as a receiver, he isn’t a liability in that aspect and does not fight the ball. He may never be the one to accumulate 30 targets in a season, but he can be used as a check-down. Lyle is set to enroll in May, take part in the strength and conditioning program, and be ready for fall camp as Lyle tries to make an immediate impact.
