Prelude: Our Monday Musings article will wrap up the week that was. We’ll cover stock up, stock down, and some names to watch who might flirt with the devy landscape. We’ll discuss the waiver wire of your C2C leagues, how to structure each player, the allocation you should give to each potential pickup, and the reasoning behind it.

Devy Stock Up⬆️

Arizona State QB Sam Leavitt

I’ve been banging the table for Leavitt all offseason and we are seeing the fruits of our labor. Leavitt returned from injury and led the Sun Devils to a decisive win over Oklahoma State. Leavitt completed 20 of 29 passes for 304 yards and three touchdowns. Leavitt elevates the players around him and makes his supporting cast competent. That is the number one trait we look for and Leavitt has that in spades.

South Carolina RB Raheim Sanders

Sanders left a sour note for many people and wrote him off. Sanders has over 500 rushing yards and 12 receptions in six healthy games. Sanders at a listed 230lbs has that burst back. Sanders has a safe floor as a receiver at the next level and Sanders will have good measurables and testing. I understand Sanders burned many people last year, but Sanders should not be written off for what he’s done this year in six full games.

Syracuse RB LeQuint Allen- RB Syracuse

Allen isn’t been talked about as a true devy riser. Allen should come back for his Senior Season and with an ever-evolving landscape, should be a top 15 devy asset for the position in 2025. Allen is a three-down back and brings receiving upside. My comp for him has been the Dallas Cowboys’ version of Tony Pollard.

Devy Watch

SMU QB Kevin Jennings

Preston Stone isn’t 100%, but still beat Stone out for the job and has done a fantastic job all season. Jennings is a dual threat and keeps improving as a passer and accurate with the football. Jennings is far from a perfect prospect but in 2025, if Jennings can continue to develop, he’ll be a hot name in the offseason. SMU has Ty Hawkins as a recruit for the 2025 class. I’ve seen Hawkins live and he is a player that will need a couple of years to develop. Jennings has job security in a Rhett Lashley system.

NC State RB Hollywood Smothers

Smothers, a former high four-star recruit, who originally enrolled at Oklahoma. Smothers returned to his hometown state and has played very well for the Wolfpack. Smothers has a safe floor of being a receiving threat and putting it together as a runner. Smothers is set up to be the lead back in 2025. NC State has gone into the portal the past two seasons at the position and there is concern that he could be supplanted, but at this time, he is a riser to watch.

Freshman Watch

Florida QB DJ Lagway

Lagway’s season is over after a significant hamstring injury. Lagway finishes his first season making an impact and likely is the unquestioned starter if Head Coach Billy Napier is with the program next year. Lagway will bring dual-threat capabilities and a big arm. Florida will have a slew of young weapons on offense next year and Lagway should make a big jump in his second year.
