Dynasty Rankings Update: Identifying Value in the Market
Christian Williams examines how the 2025 NFL free agency period has altered the landscape in dynasty fantasy football and identifies which players hold value in the market.
NFL free agency often rewards active and attentive dynasty managers, flipping player value on its head and altering the landscape of the space. This offseason has seen a significant amount of pre-NFL Draft player movement. NFL general managers are treating wideouts like Pokémon cards, journeyman quarterbacks have found work amidst an uneven draft class, and running backs still don’t matter. As the calendar turns to the NFL’s most fun month for sickos (🙋🏼♂️🙋🏼♂️🙋🏼♂️), here are a few players who have experienced changed value since the new league year began.
WR Brandon Aiyuk | KTC: WR33 | My April Rank: WR23
Aiyuk received positive news on his recovery from the knee injury he suffered in October 2024 this week, offering optimism that he’ll be ready within the first month of the season. With Deebo Samuel’s departure, Aiyuk will lead the receiving corps in an explosive, efficient offense upon his return. With an aging Christian McCaffrey and uninspiring target competition, Aiyuk’s return to the dominance he displayed in 2023, with Samuel on the team, seems likely. The team has enough needs to avoid adding a meaningful running back, and Isaac Guerendo was fine, not great, in 2024. This could mean the team leans into the pass more than they have in recent years, further pushing Aiyuk into potential top-12 territory. There is an excellent injury discount that dynasty managers can take advantage of with minimal opportunity cost.
Trades in Superflex TE-Premium Leagues:
Chig Okonkwo & 2027 1st for Brandon Aiyuk.
Jakobi Meyers & 2026 3rd for Brandon Aiyuk.
DK Metcalf for Brandon Aiyuk & 2025 3.07.
Here’s a look at our updated top ten wide receivers in dynasty/devy:
QB Justin Fields | KTC: QB26 | My April Rank: QB19
For those who have followed my work over the last half-decade, my belief that Fields will finally secure a long-term starting gig won’t come as a surprise. My ranking barely accounts for that belief — even I can acknowledge Fields has a wide range of outcomes. What is certain is his role as a starter in 2025 (and likely 2026), with hefty guarantees in his deal for a player with much to prove. Fields’s fantasy upside has never been a question. On a per-start basis, he ranks among the top 10 quarterbacks in fantasy scoring. With new head coach Aaron Glenn’s commitment to the run, and his consistent failure to stop Fields’ scrambles during their time in Detroit and Chicago, respectively, fantasy managers should expect a heavy dose of his superpower. Whether or not he can secure a long-term starting job is irrelevant; the weekly upside he’ll provide gives managers the opportunity to accrue value and trade him when they start feeling nervous. At current cost, it’s challenging to convince yourself to pass on Fields.
Trades in Superflex TE-Premium Leagues:
MarShawn Lloyd, Alvin Kamara, Kareem Hunt, & Dorian Thompson-Robinson for Justin Fields.
Hollywood Brown, 2025 2.03, & 2025 4.01 for Justin Fields & Tank Bigsby.
2025 2.01 for Justin Fields.
Here’s a look at our updated top 10 quarterbacks in dynasty/devy:
WR DJ Moore | KTC: WR23 | My April Rank: WR18
Ben Johnson’s arrival in Chicago brings a wave of fantasy value, and plenty of players will benefit from the new offense. Caleb Williams was a candidate here, but DJ Moore might be an even better value. Johnson won’t bring his offense from Detroit over verbatim; his new quarterback is too good out of structure to strictly call plays that Jared Goff succeeded with. Still, GM Ryan Poles is constructing the roster similarly to Detroit’s: saving money on the No. 3 wideout and beefing up the offensive line. With Keenan Allen out of the mix, Johnson will likely distribute wideout targets between the two studs in Moore and Rome Odunze. Moore more closely resembles Amon-Ra St. Brown, with slot versatility and outstanding ability after the catch. The Bears might run the ball more, provided they get a reliable running back, but the expectation is a great, if not elite, offense. A revitalized Moore combined with more valuable opportunities should result in more fantasy points, and they come at a great value.
Trades in Superflex TE-Premium Leagues:
Tyrone Tracy & 2025 2.05 for DJ Moore.
2025 2.07, 2.10, & 5.04 for DJ Moore.
Anthony Richardson & 2025 2.04 for DJ Moore.
