Spring practice is officially underway across the country, and this is the time of year where the early clues start to surface. Depth charts begin to take shape, freshmen start flashing for the first time, and position battles quietly start forming before the summer hype cycle kicks in.

For fantasy managers in Devy, CFF, and C2C formats, this is also one of the most important windows on the calendar. These early practice reports often tell us which freshmen are ahead of schedule, which transfers are settling in quickly, and which players could be positioned for larger roles heading into the fall.

Let’s get into the early spring storylines that are starting to develop around the country.

Dallas Wilson’s Talent Isn’t the Question, His Availability Is

Florida WR Dallas Wilson is trending in the right direction, but we’re not there yet. Wilson has yet to participate in spring practices as he continues working back from the foot issues that derailed his 2025 season. The good news? The boot is finally off, and he’s expected to begin a running progression this week. He was dressed out at practice, which is a step forward, but still not taking reps during the viewing window.

New head coach Jon Sumrall made it clear this is all about the long game. If Florida had a game this week, Wilson would likely be pushing to play, but that’s not the approach here. The staff is being cautious, prioritizing getting him fully right for the season rather than rushing him through spring. With a new regime in place and a full offseason to evaluate the roster, they’re not forcing it.

And honestly, that makes sense when you zoom out. Wilson’s freshman year was essentially lost to injury. A preseason foot issue slowed his start, and then a fracture against Georgia ended his season after just four games, preserving his redshirt. But in that limited sample, you saw flashes. The debut against Texas, 6 catches, 111 yards, 2 TDs, was a glimpse of what he can be. At 6’3”, 213, with that kind of early production, the ceiling is obvious.

Now you’re looking at a second year, a new quarterback, and a new offensive system where targets are up for grabs. On paper, this is the exact type of profile we want to bet on in devy and C2C formats.

But here’s where I get a little uneasy. These are the types of injuries that can linger, especially for receivers who rely on explosiveness and sharp cuts. And more importantly, he’s missing valuable time right now with a brand-new coaching staff. Meanwhile, guys like Eric Singleton and Vernell Brown are healthy and stacking reps.

That matters. Wilson doesn’t need to prove he’s talented; we’ve already seen that. But he does need to get on the field and build chemistry in this new system. Missing spring reps in a transition year isn’t ideal, no matter how you spin it. If he’s healthy, he has legitimate upside to be one of the better receivers in the SEC. The size, the flashes, the pedigree, it’s all there. But right now, this is firmly in the “monitor closely” tier. Because until he’s back on the field and fully rolling, there’s just a little more risk here than people want to admit.
