The Devy Royale Community Mock Draft 1.0
A three-round mock draft put together by The Devy Royale patrons and community members, as organized by Jay Stein.
The 2024 NFL Draft is approaching, and mock drafts can be repetitive. To combat this, Jay Stein organized a community mock draft, with members from The Devy Royale Patreon and Twitter serving as general managers for all 32 NFL teams. Some general managers did double- and triple-duty. Thank you to all of our drafters! The results certainly differed from most mock drafts you’re used to seeing. Here they are.
General Manager: Christian (@CWilliamsNFL)
Reasoning: Duh.
General Manager: Todd (@ff_banterman)
Reasoning: This is a tough decision…. The GM ultimately takes the guy with the most upside—arm strength, placement, athleticism, production, and size…. He needs good coaching but is an outstanding prospect.
General Manager: Lilo (@lilorouchy)
Reasoning: Ultimately, the quarterback with the more traditional NFL build went; the Patriots, as an organization, trust their veteran signing and start building around one of the best NFL prospects.
General Manager: Cole (@ColeThune)
Reasoning: I tried to move down, but no takers. Nabers is WR1B.
General Manager: Lilo (@lilorouchy)
Trade Details: Denver sends No. 12, No. 76, and a 2025 first-round pick to Los Angeles for No. 5.
Reasoning: JJ McCarthy has the tools to thrive in a Sean Payton-led offense. Payton rang Harbaugh’s phone and got convinced this was the right pick. The price for 5 isn't as high as 4.
General Manager: Austin (@AustinMcNeil17)
Reasoning: Four quarterbacks haven't been selected in the top 9 since the 40s, and we don't think that changes this year. The top offensive lineman on the board is a great building block for the franchise.
General Manager: Cristian (@CCres_24)
Reasoning: The need for offensive linemen on this team has been well-noted. With Alt off the board, Fuaga felt like the next best fit for a team that will now look to build a dominant line with the coaching overhaul and tendencies they will bring with them.
General Manager: Cristian (@CCres_24)
Reasoning: The pick feels pretty consensus at this point of the process. While Turner might not be the most polished edge rusher in the class, he possesses the most upside for a team looking to make an impact on the defensive line, with a defensive-minded head coach now running the team.
General Manager: Randy (@RHallNFL)
Trade Details: Las Vegas sends No. 13, No. 77, No. 148, and a 2025 fourth-round pick to Chicago for No. 9 and a 2025 sixth-round pick.
Reasoning: With surprises going on early, the Raiders take a value pick in trading up for their quarterback of the future.
General Manager: SlowMo94 (@IamSlow_Mo)
Reasoning: Taking Fashanu here because there is no way Smith and Morgan Moses both play a full season's worth of games. Fashanu has the traits and upside to be the premier tackle taken from this class, and lets him learn from some super solid vets to improve his game.
General Manager: Logan (@lstocks03)
Reasoning: The versatile defensive back fits into Flores’ system well. He’ll be able to develop behind Harrison Smith and Josh Metellus. DeJean should become an instant fan favorite in Minnesota.
General Manager: SlowMo94 (@IamSlow_Mo)
Reasoning: I’ll preface it by saying there is no way the Chargers trade in-division to the Broncos for their QB of the future, but getting the guy you would take at No. 5 at 12, plus a future top-10 pick next year, is too much to pass up. The value here was fantastic. Rome Odunze is a rawer version/shades of Keenan Allen. He’s a top-5 talent. WR 1B/1C.
General Manager: Christian (@CWilliamsNFL)
Reasoning: The 3-technique position is more important to this defense than EDGE2. While Gervon Dexter showed promise, Murphy is a blue chip that could unlock the Flus' defense.
General Manager: Lilo (@lilorouchy)
Trade Details: Cincinnati sends No. 18, No. 115, and a 2025 fourth-round pick to New Orleans for No. 14 and a 2026 sixth-round pick.
Reasoning: With Ja'Marr Chase, the Bengals have chosen an offensive weapon over a trench position in the past. Burrow and Bowers are the new tandem to watch.
General Manager: Cristian (@CCres_24)
Trade Details: Philadelphia sends No. 22 and No. 53 to Indianapolis for No. 15 and No. 82.
Reasoning: Howie Roseman usually isn't very aggressive in trading up, let alone for a cornerback, but Mitchell's potential is far too high for him to risk losing him in a corner run that could occur in the next few picks with other needy teams. The extra second-round pick this year made it an easier decision to make.
General Manager: Chris (@Chris1904_)
Reasoning: The Seahawks capitalize on other positional runs and get one of the best edge defenders in the class.
General Manager: Matt (@5StarMatty)
Reasoning: Jacksonville already added interior help in free agency, and they still need defensive backs and wide receivers.
General Manager: Aaron (@ARRosen)
Reasoning: The Saints were looking at an offensive tackle at No. 14. With two on the board, the Saints are happy to trade out of the Bowers pick (as tempting as it was) for an offensive tackle. Given the recent news turning negative about Ramczyk, they might have gone to JC Latham instead of Fautanu. Fautanu does seem like a great fit with Kubiak.
General Manager: Jay (@_jasonstein)
Reasoning: The Rams lost Aaron Donald and need to improve their pass-rush. Latu gives them the most pro-ready edge defender in the class.
General Manager: Rocco (@rocsox)
Reasoning: I was thinking receiver or offensive tackle here after the Diontae Johnson trade. However, the Steelers have a huge need at center.
General Manager: Cristian (@CCres_24)
Reasoning: Teron Armstead is essentially playing on a year-to-year basis right now. Latham is flying under the radar during this process, but he may be the most NFL-ready tackle in the class. Plugging him in at right tackle in year one to protect Tua Tagovailoa’s blindside will do wonders for this offense.
General Manager: Jay (@_jasonstein)
Reasoning: The Colts move back and still get an upgrade at wideout. With just Alec Pierce opposite Michael Pittman Jr. and Josh Downs in the slot, giving Anthony Richardson another weapon makes sense.
General Manager: Logan (@lstocks03)
Reasoning: The pro-ready QB gets to play with elite weapons right away, and the trade-up costed a little too much. Competition with Sam Darnold should bring out the best in both.
General Manager: Kevin (@Daboys_22)
Reasoning: Mims fits the mold of “offensive line, no matter what” for Dallas. After losing multiple pieces, adding a player with this much potential was simple. Also, would’ve traded down.
General Manager: Logan (@L0ganQuinn)
Reasoning: I attempted to trade down, as I was hoping for Cooper DeJean. Thought about going interior offensive line, but decided to give new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley a corner to play alongside Jaire Alexander.
General Manager: Vince (@v_pizzle)
Reasoning: A high-upside selection to boost the edge room. YaYa Diaby gave good snaps last season, but the Bucs need more.
General Manager: Cole (@ColeThune)
Reasoning: Best player available.
General Manager: Lou (@brewpython27)
Reasoning: Brandon Beane wants the wide receiver room to be interchangeable and have redundancy. McConkey gives them the ability to have plus-route runners at five different spots on the field, in addition to bringing underrated speed to take the top off the defense.
General Manager: Matt (@5StarMatty)
Reasoning: They met with Kool-Aid at the NFL Combine, and this seems to be a best-player-available pick here.
General Manager: Cole (@ColeThune)
Reasoning: With Zay Flowers being an under-sized, more of a gadget type of receiver, the Ravens could desperately use a WR who can win on the perimeter and be a true X. Adonai is 6'2, a freak athlete and ran 80% of his routes out wide last season. He has elite hands, with only one drop on 103 targets over the last two seasons. His lack of production in college is worrisome, but he shows great route-running nuance on tape and was not utilized optimally by Texas. His size, athleticism, hands, and traits displayed on tape give him the potential to be a true #1 outside receiver in the NFL.
General Manager: Kristin (@Arkinskris4046)
Reasoning: The 49ers won despite their offensive line at times last season, and Barton offers versatility along the line.
General Manager: Matt (@5StarMatty)
Reasoning: The Chiefs need tackles more than wideouts with the signing of Marquise Brown and a projected leap from Rashee Rice.
