Week 1 is finally here, and before the Sunday slate kicks off, there are already plenty of dynasty storylines worth tracking. Injuries, depth-chart movement, weather, and changing roles can all shape how we view players before they even take the field.
The goal of The Sunday Fantasy Brief is simple: get you caught up quickly on what matters most before kickoff. No overreaction, no box-score chasing, just the key news, dynasty implications, and situations I’ll be watching throughout the day.
The Lead Story
Week 1 is going to be filled with overreactions. A player has one bad game and suddenly people are ready to bury him. A rookie pops for 20 points and managers start sending out offers they probably should not be making. This is usually where bad dynasty trades happen.
So before Sunday starts, relax on the doomsday scenarios. One game should not completely change how you view a player, especially when we are still learning roles, usage, and how these offenses are actually going to function. Pay attention, react when the information is real, but do not let one box score kill your team.
The player I am most interested in watching this week is Omarion Hampton. Hampton dealt with injuries during his rookie season, but when he was on the field, the production was already there. He finished as the RB12 in fantasy points per game among backs who played at least nine games, and now he gets to operate in Mike McDaniel’s offense.
That is what makes this so interesting. McDaniel has consistently created strong fantasy environments for running backs, and Hampton now gets a favorable Week 1 matchup against an Arizona defense that struggled to contain the run last season. If the Chargers control this game, Hampton could see a massive workload. I am not just watching the fantasy points. I want to see how he is used.
What I’m watching: Snap share, passing-down work, goal-line usage, and whether this offense truly runs through Hampton from the jump. If it does, we could be looking at one of the biggest dynasty risers at running back this season.
