Week 8 is here, and at this point, we have enough data to start trusting some of these trends a little more. Injuries, usage, depth-chart movement, weather, and changing roles are giving us a much clearer picture of which dynasty storylines actually matter and which ones may have just been early-season noise.

The goal of The Sunday Fantasy Brief stays the same: get you caught up quickly on what matters most before kickoff. No overreaction, no chasing one-week box scores, just the key news, dynasty implications, and situations I’ll be watching throughout the day.

The Lead Story

Can Lamar Jackson solve everything? Baltimore has looked like a different team without him. The run game has stalled, the explosive plays have disappeared, the offensive line has been a mess, and the offense has struggled to find any kind of identity.

That is why Lamar’s return matters so much. He is not just the quarterback. He changes the entire structure of this offense. Defenses have to account for him as a runner, which opens lanes for the backs, creates more space in coverage, and gives Baltimore a chance to get back to the version of the offense we expected to see this season.

Now he gets Buffalo. That is about as good of a return spot as you could ask for. The Bills have been one of the worst pass defenses in football, allowing 285.8 passing yards per game, and they have also been vulnerable to rushing quarterbacks. Lamar does not need to be perfect here. He just needs to look healthy.

Through four games before the ankle injury, Jackson completed 70.8% of his passes for 967 yards with six touchdowns and one interception. He also added 144 rushing yards and another score. The rushing piece is what I will be watching most closely.

Baltimore took its time with this injury, and Lamar practiced fully this week with no injury designation heading into Sunday. If he is moving like himself again, the fantasy ceiling immediately comes back. Buffalo has also had problems with this matchup before. Over the last three meetings with Baltimore, the Bills have allowed more than 31 points per game and have struggled to contain the Ravens on the ground.

What I’m watching: How much Baltimore lets Lamar run, whether the explosive plays return, and if his presence immediately fixes the spacing and rhythm of this offense. Lamar is back in my top tier of quarterbacks this week. And if Baltimore suddenly looks like Baltimore again, it will be another reminder that Lamar Jackson does not just raise the ceiling of this offense. He is the offense.

🚑 Injury Watch

Week 8 has a lot of moving pieces, so here are the situations that actually matter for fantasy, broken down by kickoff window.

Sunday 1 p.m.

Jeremiyah Love/Tyler Allgeier, RB, Cardinals
Love is back and will play. That should immediately push him back to the top of the Arizona backfield after Bam Knight and Allgeier split the work in his absence. Love is just outside RB2 territory, while Allgeier and Knight belong on benches.
