Week 4 is here, and now we have enough data to start taking some of these trends more seriously. Three weeks still is not a huge sample, but injuries, usage, depth-chart movement, weather, and changing roles are giving us a much clearer picture of which dynasty storylines actually matter.

The goal of The Sunday Fantasy Brief stays the same: get you caught up quickly on what matters most before kickoff. No overreaction, no chasing one-week box scores, just the key news, dynasty implications, and situations I’ll be watching throughout the day.

The Lead Story

The biggest thing I’m watching this week is Justin Herbert.

The Chargers are 0-3, Herbert has yet to top 250 passing yards in a game, and he still has not thrown multiple touchdowns in a single week. Through three games, he has looked uncomfortable in Mike McDaniel’s offense, and the entire passing game has felt out of sync.

That is the part that matters most to me. This was always going to be a major offensive transition. McDaniel’s system asks Herbert to play differently, with more quick-game concepts, timing, outside-zone influence, and misdirection. Ladd McConkey even talked about how some concepts and formations now mean different things than they did in the previous offense. That split-second hesitation can matter, and right now Herbert does not look fully settled.

The situation gets even more complicated with McConkey now dealing with a foot injury. He was limited Wednesday, did not practice Thursday, and was reportedly seen leaving the locker room with a noticeable limp. That makes Friday’s practice status especially important.

If McConkey cannot go, Herbert could be without his best and most reliable receiver in the toughest matchup he has seen all season. Quentin Johnston and Tre’ Harris would likely become the primary wideouts, while Derius Davis could see more work in the slot. Brenen Thompson has also missed practice, which could leave the Chargers thin at receiver overall.

The problem is that Week 4 already gives Herbert very little room to breathe. Seattle has been one of the toughest pass defenses in football, allowing the fewest passing yards while also forcing four interceptions. Herbert has also struggled badly from an efficiency standpoint, and this is not exactly the matchup you want when trying to get comfortable in a new system. I am also watching the secondary pieces closely. Johnston has six catches for 64 yards through three games, while McConkey has been the clear top option. If McConkey sits, someone has to step into that volume.

What I’m watching: Herbert’s decision-making, timing in the quick game, McConkey’s status, and whether one of Johnston, Harris, or Davis can emerge if the Chargers are forced to reshuffle the passing game.

If Herbert struggles again here, especially with McConkey limited or out, this starts becoming a much bigger dynasty conversation than just a slow start.

🚑 Injury Watch

A lot of the Week 4 injury picture has cleared up, and there are several situations that could have a real impact on fantasy and dynasty value.

Sunday Morning

Jayden Daniels, QB, Commanders

Daniels traveled with the team to London and practiced this week, but he has been ruled out. Marcus Mariota will start again after a strong Week 3, and the matchup with Indianapolis gives him real streaming appeal.

Rachaad White, RB, Commanders

White has been ruled out, which puts Jacory Croskey-Merritt in position to handle the bulk of the work. Washington also signed Austin Ekeler, but for now Croskey-Merritt is the back I care about most.

Terry McLaurin, WR, Commanders

McLaurin was added to the injury report Friday with a hamstring issue and is questionable. He finally looked more involved last week, so this is one to monitor closely. If he sits, Stefon Diggs gets a bump and Antonio Williams could see more work.
