Dynasty Market
We are three weeks into the NFL season, which is enough time to start noticing trends, but not enough time to completely rewrite how we view every player.
I am still trying to avoid overreacting to one big game or panicking over a slow start. Roles are starting to become clearer and some of these performances are worth paying attention to, but dynasty is a long game. The goal here is to identify what actually matters without moving players too far, too fast.
Garrett Wilson, WR, New York Jets
Kevin: Is Garrett Wilson finally starting to look like the player we expected him to be? Through three weeks, I think the answer is yes. Wilson just posted his first 100-yard game since Week 14 of the 2024 season, and he has now scored in back-to-back games. Through three weeks, he is sitting at 21 receptions for 243 yards and two touchdowns on 27 targets, and more importantly, he looks healthy again after injuries derailed so much of last season.
The role has never really been the question. Wilson is still the clear top target in this offense, and as long as that continues, the production should be there. He may never become the elite dynasty WR1 some people hoped for when he entered the league, but I do think he has settled back into being a really solid WR2. That is probably where I am with him right now. I am not pushing him way up after one 100-yard game, but I do think the bounce-back is real. If he stays healthy and keeps commanding this kind of volume, Wilson should be a reliable weekly option and a much safer dynasty asset than he looked like a year ago.
Christian: Like Kevin said, the role has never been the issue, and the talent hasn’t been either, and the Jets are loaded with first-round draft picks next year to go get the most talented quarterback in the class, if they want. It seems like capitalizing on the lower value now, even after three weeks of him having some level of competency throwing him the ball, is the smart move. I’ve always been high on Wilson, and the lack of structure around him has depressed how fantasy managers feel about him. Still, that offers a perfect opportunity to get an asset that looks very likely to gain value in the next few months.
Matthew Golden, WR, Green Bay Packers
Kevin: I was in on Matthew Golden this offseason, and he was actually my final dynasty buy here on the Substack before the season started. Through three weeks, things are looking pretty good.
Golden just posted five catches for 100 yards and a touchdown on 12 targets against Atlanta, and he is now up to 15 receptions for 253 yards and a score on 30 targets through three games. The biggest thing for me is the volume. He has already seen 12 targets in two of three games, and that tells me this is not just a random hot stretch.
The connection with Jordan Love looks better, the role looks real, and Golden is starting to separate himself in an offense that still has other mouths to feed. Christian Watson is still going to make plays, Tucker Kraft is involved, but Golden is commanding enough volume to matter every week.
This is exactly why I liked him as a buy. The rookie year was quiet, but the profile was still there, and now the opportunity is finally matching it. I am not moving him into some crazy tier after three games, but I do think we are looking at a legitimate Year 2 breakout. If you bought the dip this offseason, you should feel pretty good right now.
Christian: It’s actually amazing that Golden has found any level of success with how bad the Packers’ offensive line has been, but he’s looked excellent. It was easy to project this volume increase after the Packers moved on from Dontayvion Wicks and Romeo Doubs, but this is a next-level boost in production. Golden will certainly have dud weeks, but with Jayden Reed likely out for a while with his neck injury, they should be fewer and further between. Christian Watson has arguably been the most explosive and maybe most likely to become a WR1, even over Golden, but he’s certainly going to move up my rankings a tad this week.
