The Weekly Wire: Devy, Dynasty & C2C Edition
A weekly summer series breaking down the most relevant news impacting your devy, dynasty, and C2C rosters.
Welcome to The Devy & Dynasty Weekly Wire. A weekly rundown of all the news, notes, and takeaways that actually matter for your devy, dynasty, and C2C leagues. Whether it’s injury updates, transfer portal movement, breakout reports, or depth chart shifts, I’m here to help you make sense of what’s noise and what’s actionable.
We’ll be dropping this every week all summer long to keep you dialed in and ahead of your league mates heading into the 2025 season. If something impacts long-term value or your roster-building process, we’re covering it.
Let’s get into it.
Dynasty
It’s another quiet week on the dynasty front which is what you’d expect heading into July. OTAs are mostly wrapped, and we’re a few weeks away from training camp buzz taking over. But even in a slower news cycle, it’s important to keep track of little things that might get lost in the noise. Whether it’s a health update, roster movement, or a subtle depth chart shift, this is where you can find small value edges to stay ahead of your league. Let’s jump into the few takeaways that actually matter.
Christian McCaffrey Looks Healthy Again
It’s not getting a ton of attention, but Christian McCaffrey showed up, suited up, and made it through OTAs and minicamp without missing a session. After dealing with a nagging Achilles and knee issue in 2024, that’s exactly what you want to see especially for a player who turns 29 this season. He wasn’t as explosive as he looked in spring 2023 (the year he torched the league and won OPOY), but the goal this offseason was simple: stay available. And by all accounts, he did.
San Francisco moved on from Jordan Mason, a sign that they’re confident McCaffrey will be ready to carry the load again. They did draft Jordan James in the fifth round, but the 49ers have made it a habit of adding backs late in the draft every year. Unless there’s another camp injury, this is shaping up to be CMC’s backfield again to start the season.
In 2023, McCaffrey was an absolute monster, over 2,000 scrimmage yards, 21 total touchdowns, and nearly 400 fantasy points. But that same upside also comes with undeniable risk. Injuries have followed him throughout his career. He played just 10 total games across 2020-21 before bouncing back. We know what the ceiling looks like, but we also know it can go sideways quick.
Dynasty Takeaway:
If you’re rebuilding, it’s time to move off. But if you’re a contender, or even in that Tier 2 trying to punch up, McCaffrey might be the perfect buy-low win-now piece. His market value isn’t reflecting what he can still do if healthy. And as risky as it may feel, he's the type of player who can tilt a playoff run in your favor. You’re not paying prime prices, and the upside is still as high as any RB in the game. That’s a gamble I’ll take when I’m within striking distance.
