The Weekly Wire: Devy, Dynasty & C2C Edition
A weekly summer series breaking down the most relevant news impacting your devy, dynasty, and C2C rosters.
Welcome to The Devy & Dynasty Weekly Wire: a weekly rundown of all the news, notes, and takeaways that actually matter for your devy, dynasty, and C2C leagues. Whether it’s injury updates, transfer portal movement, breakout reports, or depth chart shifts, I’m here to help you make sense of what’s noise and what’s actionable.
As we move deeper into the preseason, we’ll be rolling out two weekly columns to keep you ahead of the curve: one focused on NFL training camp updates, and another zeroing in on Fall Camp developments across college football. Both will highlight what matters for roster construction, value movement, and early-season prep.
We’ll be dropping these every week all summer long to keep you dialed in and ahead of your league mates heading into the 2025 season. If something impacts long-term value or your roster-building process, we’re covering it. I hope you’ve enjoyed this column this summer as a prep for those. Be sure to stick with us all season long for our coverage this year. We plan to up our content game for all formats.
Let’s get into it.
Dynasty
We’re finally starting to see teams report to training camp and with that comes the usual stream of injury updates, depth chart movement, and unfortunately… some legal trouble. Not every headline is fantasy-relevant, but some of these situations force us to adjust our expectations and reevaluate risk. The dynasty landscape doesn’t stand still, and this week is no exception.
Let’s start with a major development out of Cleveland.
Quinshon Judkins Arrested – What It Means for Dynasty
Browns rookie RB Quinshon Judkins was arrested last week on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge stemming from an alleged altercation in South Florida. The report claims Judkins repeatedly struck a woman during an argument over text messages. She waited several days before coming forward, citing his rising career and success as the reason for her initial hesitation.
This is serious and while the NFL typically waits for legal proceedings to play out, this type of charge usually carries a six-game suspension under the league’s personal conduct policy. Whether or not that discipline comes in 2025 is still unclear, but the risk is now part of Judkins' long-term profile.
From a dynasty perspective, you’re holding if you have him. Period. These suspensions are, unfortunately, not new in the NFL, and players have historically returned to full roles once situations are resolved. However, Judkins now carries long-term risk, not just from a potential suspension, but from being one incident away from something bigger down the line. That baked-in volatility slightly dings his value, but he still sits inside the top 12 dynasty RBs for me.
There’s also a buying opportunity here but it’s not for everyone. If you’re a contending team or rebuilding and willing to take on risk for upside, I’d be cautiously checking in with any panicked managers. Judkins still has massive 2025 potential if this situation doesn’t lead to immediate discipline.
As for the Browns’ depth chart…
Jerome Ford is the short-term winner here, but we need more info before making any big moves. He averaged nearly 10 carries and 5 targets per game when Nick Chubb was out last year and held his own as a flex play. But I wouldn’t be aggressively buying unless clarity on Judkins’ availability hits.
Dylan Sampson, though, is where things get interesting. I wasn’t overly high on him as a prospect pre-draft, but some in the community were. This arrest could create a temporary sell window where you flip him for a pick or a player you believe in more. If you can get an ROI bump right now, it might be the smart move.
You can hold if you believe he’ll carve out a role, but remember: if Judkins avoids suspension and the Browns add more competition next offseason, Sampson’s window to matter could close quickly.
