Top 5 Dynasty Assets Traded In September
Kevin looks at the five most traded assets in the dynasty format through the month of September!
September is always one of the most revealing months of the dynasty calendar. With the first three weeks of the NFL season in the books, we start to see which fantasy teams are shaping up as contenders and which might already be sliding into pretender territory. That shift creates the first real wave of dynasty trade activity, as managers either look to reinforce their playoff push or pivot toward building for the future.
Using data from FantasyCalc and Dynasty Daddy, we’ve identified the five most traded assets in dynasty leagues this month. In this article, we’ll break down each player, their current market value, recent trades, and what these deals tell us about how managers are approaching September roster moves. While the season is still young, these names are already driving significant buzz and setting the tone for the rest of the year.
Washington Commanders RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt
Week 3 was supposed to be the true breakout moment for Croskey-Merritt after Austin Ekeler’s Achilles injury opened the door. Instead, Washington rolled out a full-blown committee. Croskey-Merritt led the group in snaps (23 of 58) but not in touches, with Chris Rodriguez handling 11 carries and Jeremy McNichols rotating in on passing downs. Even more concerning is the lack of receiving work, just one catch all year, which aligns with his college profile.
That hasn’t stopped his dynasty value from shooting up, as managers are still clinging to the idea that his role will expand. He’s currently being priced around RB24 overall, in the same range as established starters like Terry McLaurin, Trey Benson, Courtland Sutton, and Jordan Mason. If you landed him in the late rounds of rookie drafts, you’re already ahead. At this point, selling him for a more stable asset makes sense.
Day 3 running backs like Croskey-Merritt have flashed before only to fade quickly. The Commanders’ backfield rotation looks messy and unpredictable, and projecting long-term volume is a gamble. For contenders, he’s a decent RB2 based on efficiency and splash plays. For rebuilders, this is the perfect “cash-out” window before the value dips.

Philadelphia Eagles A.J. Brown
Heading into 2025, Brown was a consensus top-10 receiver and for good reason — he’s been a fantasy WR1 for most of his career, with three seasons already in that tier. His 2024 dip (WR17 overall) came more from missed games than a drop in ability. Still, when he opened 2025 with back-to-back duds, dynasty managers started to sweat. One target in Week 1 and a 27-yard follow-up in Week 2 had the panic alarms blaring.
Week 3 against the Rams flipped the script. Brown erupted for 109 yards and a score on 10 targets, showing exactly why he’s still one of the most dominant receivers in the game. That performance calmed nerves and stabilized his market value. For contenders, he’s right back in the WR1 mix.
But dynasty is as much about timing as it is about talent. At 28 years old, Brown is entering the phase of his career where managers start to worry about the age cliff. Some are holding, banking on another two to three elite seasons. Others are selling high, using Week 3 as the perfect exit point to pivot into younger wideouts or to spread his value across multiple assets. If you believe Brown has another peak season or two, he’s a buy. If you’re worried about long-term decline, this rebound game is your clean window to move off him.

Dallas Cowboys RB Javonte Williams
Williams has bounced back in a big way this season. He’s producing like an RB1, sitting at RB6 in fantasy points per game while averaging nearly 19 touches and over 95 yards from scrimmage per week. The advanced metrics back it up too — top-10 in snap share, opportunity share, and explosive run rate. When Dallas leans on gap runs, he’s thriving, with one of the highest success rates in the league. On paper, he looks like the breakout version of himself we all hoped to see post-injury.
But the cracks are there if you look closely. Miles Sanders is quietly carving out a role, jumping up to 36% of the snaps last week while Williams dipped to 59%. The Cowboys’ offensive line isn’t at full strength, and the offense overall has been inconsistent. Add in Williams’ history of injuries, and suddenly the long-term picture isn’t quite as bulletproof as his RB6 ranking suggests.
That’s why he’s one of the most traded assets right now. Contenders want to ride the hot hand, but rebuilders or cautious managers see this as a chance to cash out before volume concerns and health risk catch up. If you’re holding Williams, the question isn’t about his talent, it’s about whether you want to ride out the risk or flip him for a steadier long-term bet.
