Transfer Portal Update: Wide Receivers
Andy Pham is back! He looks at the landing spots for transfer wide receivers and their potential impact.
We have big-name receivers on the move. The landscape for the position will be in flux with some key players changing teams. With several big names finding new homes, is this a stock-up situation, or are we looking at fool’s gold? With so many key names on the move, we’ll break this down into two parts. Below is part one!

KC Concepcion – Texas A&M (2026)
I raved about Concepcion before he played a single snap in college and touted him as a must-add player to finish off our 2023 Devy Digest: Freshman Friday edition, and it paid off in spades. Concepcion is a talented player who is more than a gimmicky option, despite what some may believe. He’ll operate out of the slot for A&M and should have a massive role in the upcoming season. Concepcion and the next player we’ll discuss will complement each other well.
Micah Hudson – Texas A&M (2027)
The way Texas Tech’s coaching staff used Hudson was egregious. Hudson is a pure route runner who thrives in today’s style of football. When he was on the field, he flashed. He started the season off slow, but people forget he had offseason knee surgery and was playing catch-up in fall camp. I expect Hudson and Concepcion to work in unison.
Johntay Cook II – Washington (2026)
Cook disappointed this year and fell out of favor with the coaching staff. A fresh start in the Pacific Northwest with Jedd Fisch and Demond Williams will be fun. Cook should fill the Jacob Cowing role and be featured as a premium option. This is a massive win as far as landing spots are concerned. Williams to Cook will be exciting to watch in 2025.
Zachariah Branch – Georgia (2026)
This move is a positive one for me. USC wasn’t using him properly and only schemed him up short. The coaching staff soured on Branch midway through the season and publicly stated he needed to improve his route running. I don’t believe this was Branch’s fault. The team quit on Lincoln Riley after Miller Moss was benched, and we saw an exodus of players entering the portal. The shine on Riley has finally diminished—and rightfully so. He’s inherited great opportunities each time, and each time, he makes his teams worse. He turns a Lamborghini into a Mustang.
Branch should be used everywhere. He can take on the Arian Smith role, being utilized behind the line of scrimmage and downfield to capitalize on his speed. Georgia is an improvement, but the only concern will be Gunner Stockton and whether he can take the next steps as a passer.
Barion Brown – LSU (2025)
This is a home run. As a true freshman, Brown was schemed up short, and Kentucky got the ball in his hands to create. During his sophomore campaign, they expanded his route tree to include deeper routes, but he struggled to find success. This past season was a lost one, likely due to poor quarterback play at Kentucky. Brown ideally fits as a deep threat alongside Chris Hilton, with Aaron Anderson in the slot. Anderson and Brown bring overlapping traits, which could free LSU to use both players creatively. With Garrett Nussmeier returning, this is a stock-up for Brown simply because he’ll have Nuss throwing him the ball.
Eric Singleton Jr. – Auburn (2026)
