Week 7 College Football Bets
Kevin goes through his favorite bets of the Week 7 college football season.
Week 7 of the college football season is shaping up to be a wild one, with some of the best matchups we’ve seen all year. Just last weekend, four top-10 teams lost on the road, shaking up the rankings and adding more intrigue to this week’s slate. No. 1 Alabama fell in a shocker to Vanderbilt, No. 4 Tennessee was upset by Arkansas, No. 9 Missouri was blown out by Texas A&M, and No. 10 Michigan lost a national title game rematch to Washington. This weekend, the stakes are even higher with marquee games like No. 1 Texas vs. No. 19 Oklahoma in Dallas, No. 4 Penn State at USC, and No. 9 Ole Miss traveling to take on No. 13 LSU. Throw in South Carolina at No. 7 Alabama and Arizona heading to Provo to face No. 14 BYU, and we’ve got a weekend full of action. Buckle up for some exciting football and let’s dive into the best bets for Week 7!
Ohio State -3 Over Oregon
As a Michigan fan, it pains me to say this, but Ohio State is the best team in the country right now. The Buckeyes' defense is lights out, allowing just seven points per game, and no team has scored more than one touchdown against them all season. They’ve racked up 17 sacks, four interceptions, and even scored two defensive touchdowns. Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel has not played his best this season and if he turns the ball over they could be in for a very long game.
Offensively, they are a nightmare for opposing defenses. Judkins and Henderson have combined for 805 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, while their receiving corps, led by Smith and Egbuka, has posted 886 yards and 12 touchdowns. Freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith is averaging 19.7 yards per catch with six touchdowns, while QB Will Howard has been efficient, completing 75 percent of his passes for 1,248 yards and 12 touchdowns. Oregon will have their hands full trying to stop Ohio State’s potent rushing attack and aerial assault. If the Buckeyes get an early lead and quiet the Oregon crowd, it’s going to be a long day for the Ducks. I fully expect Ohio State to cover the -3 spread and come out of this one looking like the top team in the nation.

Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka Over 67.5 Receiving Yards
We're going to keep riding the Emeka Egbuka train until the books catch up. Egbuka has been the Buckeyes' go-to guy, leading the team with 30 receptions—seven more than star freshman Jeremiah Smith—and racking up 433 receiving yards and five touchdowns so far this season. With Chip Kelly orchestrating one of the top offenses in the nation, averaging 46 points and 510.2 yards per game, this top-five matchup is bound to be a shootout. Egbuka, Ohio State’s top target, should feast in this game and could clear 67.5 yards by halftime.
Minnesota -5 Over UCLA
Let’s keep it real—UCLA is just not a good football team right now. Minnesota, on the other hand, is coming off a crucial win over USC, pulling to 3-3 and keeping their bowl game hopes alive. After nearly upsetting Michigan the week before, Minnesota’s confidence is growing, and their ability to grind out games is key. The Gophers' defense has been solid, holding opponents under 375 total yards and under 200 passing yards in every game. Meanwhile, UCLA’s offense has been struggling to move the ball, failing to hit 300 yards since their season opener. Darius Taylor, Minnesota’s star running back, has been a workhorse, with 144 yards on 25 carries against USC. With Taylor leading the way and UCLA's inability to stop anyone on third down, Minnesota should cover the -5 with ease.
