There’s no pick in dynasty that creates more tension than the 1.01. It’s the ultimate asset on paper. The cleanest bet in your rookie draft. The player everyone wants but very few can actually acquire. And every year, we go through the same exercise: overvaluing it in theory, undervaluing it in practice, and misplaying it somewhere in between. This isn’t going to be another article telling you the 1.01 is “worth a haul.” You already know that. This is about what it actually costs.

I’ve pulled together real trades, real offers, and real market behavior to answer the only question that matters: what are people truly willing to give up to get the 1.01, and should you take it? Because value isn’t created in rankings. It’s created in your league chat, on the clock, when someone finally decides to pay up.

Let’s get into what the 1.01 is really worth.

Here’s the reality of the 1.01 right now and it starts with Jeremiyah Love. Even in Superflex leagues, Love is being treated as the default 1.01, and more importantly, he’s not being valued like a typical rookie pick. He’s already being priced as an established asset.

Based on current rankings and market sentiment, Love is sitting in a tier alongside proven veterans:

  • Trey McBride

  • Ashton Jeanty

  • Joe Burrow

  • CeeDee Lamb

  • Just ahead of players like Drake London

This is where things shift for dynasty managers. The 1.01 isn’t being valued like “a chance at a great player.” It’s being valued like you’re already holding a top-15 to top-20 startup asset. And that creates a gap.

Because while Love carries that kind of market value, he hasn’t produced at the NFL level yet. You’re paying for insulation, profile, and upside, not points in your lineup today. That’s why the 1.01 becomes one of the most difficult assets to move. The manager holding it sees a cornerstone. The manager trying to acquire it has to beat CeeDee Lamb-level pricing just to get the conversation started. So before we even get into trades, understand this:

If you’re moving the 1.01, you’re not selling a pick; you’re selling a top-tier startup asset. Now let’s look at what that actually returns in real leagues. These settings are for SF/Te Premium 1.50 12 Team Leagues (PPR). All trades can be found at FantasyCalc.

2026 1.01 FOR 2026 1.04, 2027 1st

This one really comes down to team direction and how confident you are in your build. Moving off the 1.01 to pick up an extra 2027 1st while only sliding back three spots is a very viable strategy if your roster isn’t close. You’re essentially turning one premium asset into two, and in a true rebuild, that insulation matters. The key variable, though, is understanding what you’re doing for your trade partner. If they take Jeremiyah Love at 1.01 and that stabilizes their roster, you could be looking at a much later 2027 1st than you’re projecting today. That’s the risk baked into this deal.

If I’m making this move, I’m doing it with intention. At 1.04, I’m prioritizing long-term cornerstones; wide receiver is the cleanest path here, or I’m comfortable taking a swing on someone like Fernando Mendoza if I’m building out a Superflex core. This is about extending your window, not chasing immediate production.

On the other side, this is the exact type of deal I’m willing to make if I’m close. If my roster is one running back away from legitimately competing, I’m paying this every time for Love. You’re consolidating value into a difference-maker, and in that scenario, the future 1st becomes the cost of pushing your team into a championship window.
