Devy Digest: Monday Musings - Week 6
Andy Pham covers college football Week 6, including CFF/C2C Waivers and much more.
Prelude: Our Monday Musings article will wrap up the week that was. We’ll cover stock up, stock down, and some names to watch who might flirt with the devy landscape. We’ll discuss the waiver wire of your C2C leagues, how to structure each player, the allocation you should give to each potential pickup, and the reasoning behind it.
Devy Stock Up⬆️
Texas A&M RB Le’Veon Moss (2026)
Moss was someone we talked about towards the end of the offseason. When Rueben Owens went down, he was a more obvious candidate, but some still thought Amari Daniels would be the lead back for this team. Moss is someone that I’ve been higher on since he was a prospect. Moss had a slow start as a true freshman and because of that, the devy community holds a grudge towards him. Some players take a little longer to acclimate and Moss is one of those players. Moss has seized his opportunity and has looked good as a runner. Moss has good speed, brings physicality in the run game with good vision, and became a more patient runner. Moss has been utilized more in the passing game and he showcases soft hands. It’ll be interesting if Moss transfers out at the end of the season with Rueben Owens returning next season.
Wake Forest RB Demond Claiborne (2026)
Claiborne is someone we talked about before the season started and is having the best season of his career. Claiborne averages 5.8 yards per carry with 4.21 yards after contact and has been elusive with 21 forced missed tackles on 81 carries. Claiborne is the offense for the Demon Deacons and projects as a player who will look to transfer to a better program for his final season and elevate his draft stock, something that we predicted before the start of the season. With three touchdowns this past weekend, it will be tough for the Demon Deacons not to showcase Claiborne and be the centerpiece of this slow-mesh offense.
Utah State WR Jalen Royals (2025)
Royals had an outstanding 2023 season and the start to this season has been less than inspiring. The senior reintroduced himself as a player to take over a game at a moment's notice. Royals had nine receptions for 211 yards and two touchdowns against Boise State over the weekend. We talked up Royals last year, and on the Senior Bowl radar. At a verified 6’0 with 4.3 in the 40, Royals has every right to skyrocket in the offseason.
Arizona State QB Sam Leavitt (2026)
The coaching staff let you know who the QB1 was all offseason. Leavitt doesn’t have a strong supporting cast and has helped elevate his team to a hot 4-1 start. The Sun Devils have outperformed expectations, which can be traced back to Leavitt. He hasn’t been asked to do much but has operated within the system and broke out with four passing touchdowns over the weekend. Head Coach Kenny Dillingham is putting more on Leavitt’s plate each week and Leavitt has not appeared overwhelmed. Leavitt is someone we’ve been higher on than most and is showing why.
Devy Stock Down⬇️
Miami RB Damien Martinez (2025)
Martinez doesn’t look great this year, and it’s the running scheme. At Oregon State, they used a zone-run-based scheme that allowed Martinez to work freely. Miami does not utilize a heavy-based zone run scheme, and Martinez has looked slow. He’s had issues with vision and deciding which hole to run through. His yards per carry have suffered. Martinez had a career average of 6.1 yards per carry, which has dipped to 4.5 yards this year, and his yards after contact has gone from 3.82 to 2.92. Martinez looks heavy-footed and has only forced nine missed tackles this season. In any metric, Martinez is not the same player we saw at Oregon State.
